We would like to introduce you to our local organisation and give you a flavour of our various activities. Our core activity is adult discussion groups, where people meet on a regular basis to explore a wide range of topics.  We have friendly and fairly informal meetings that can increase your knowledge and understanding of the world that we live in. Our new publicity leaflet has paid some dividends and we are very pleased to see new faces at our meetings.

We are pleased to be able to offer a way to experience informal learning. Our members participate for enjoyment and are driven by their desire for personal fulfilment or intellectual, creative and physical stimulation. We aim to put the fun back into education and although we are still called a school there is very little chalk and we promise not to put you in detention!

The New Tuesday Morning & Wednesday Evening Programmes from January to August 2012 can be found on the relevant pages of this website.

For the third year running, we had a stand at The Umbrella Fair which was held on the Northampton Racecourse on Saturday 13th August 2011. This is a free community and environmental music & arts festival that runs from 12noon until 11pm!  Volunteers from NASO were in attendance, under our gazebo, from midday to 5pm and promoted the club and attracted new members. There was plenty for everyone at this friendly event with food, music, storytelling & poetry.

The N'pton Tuesday and Wednesday Group Pages show what diverse topics we cover. Some meetings have a high level of member involvement whilst others draw upon local experts or representatives from county organisations.  Topics are sometimes chosen from the national movement's annual Handbook or a member may have a special interest they wish to share. Please note that any last minute changes to our Group Programmes will be found by consulting the relevant Group page.

With the dwindling provision of local adult education classes you might be looking for a new opportunity to engage your brain or just another way to meet like-minded people.  We are now seeking new members to make our Groups even stronger to face the challenges of the future. Whilst most of our members are 55 years and over, we do have some younger members. Come along to any of our meetings and you will receive a warm welcome with no obligation to join.

Perhaps you are a speaker who wants to give a presentation to a receptive audience?  You might be looking to gain more experience in giving  talks and need a training ground to develop your skills?  Let us know and we can consider inclusion in our Group programmes.

Membership of NASO at £6 per year (plus £1 weekly subs) can provide you with a low cost but high value leisure experience!  The Northampton NASO Centre in St Michael's Road is very close to the Town Centre. Click on 'How to find us (Map)' on the left of the screen.

Our County Secretary (Beryl) can provide any further information and deal with general enquiries about NASO Groups on 01604 858 252.
